Comprehensive Campaign Target = $3 million

Hnub Tshiab: Hmong Women Achieving Together envisions a day when there is on-going funding generated by our own endowment that will help us meet our mission of being a catalyst for lasting cultural, institutional, and social change to improve the lives of Hmong women. Also, that there is a safe place for Hmong women to gather around each other, and that we are not dependent on foundation funding and volunteer efforts alone to sustain our work.

The Hmong community has the youngest population demographic in the entire State of Minnesota. Over 50% of our population is younger than age 18 according to the US Census. Hmong women and girls need support to continue to grow professionally and to be able to guide their own futures. Building on the current assets of a growing number of emerging Hmong women leaders and their allies, we hope to shape generations of Hmong women and girls in the years to come to build us into a strong and vibrant community that welcomes and encourages them to reach their highest potential and teaches them how to address the unsafe, unhealthy, and unhelpful social conditions that keep them from reaching their highest potential.

The words “catalyst” and “lasting” in our mission means that we must ensure that future and current generations of Hmong American women’s lives continue to improve. Our coalition of support is growing, and over thousands of lives have already been touched through our 12 years of operation.

▪ Capital Fund: Purchase and maintain operations of a Hmong Women’s Center that will be a house for Hmong women and girls to convene, provide support for each other, and allow space for social action and change to occur. Currently, the organization is “virtual” and has no office space, program-owned space, or operating facilities. We project $500,000 needed for the acquisition, rehab, and establishment of a fund to enable upkeep and operations of the house.

▪ Endowment Fund: Endow Hnub Tshiab: Hmong Women Achieving Together to continue to do its work into perpetuity. At a conservative 5% interest, 2.5 million will enable us to fund one full time staff position that will be dedicated to improve the lives of Hmong women forever.
